Trailer Mechanic

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for repairs and required preventive maintenance of trailers.
  • Perform maintenance on tires: tread, inflation, rotation, wear, reconditioning of wheels.
  • Repair or replace defective parts, components or systems.
  • Complete work orders and related paperwork properly and in a timely manner.
  • Lift objects of various shapes, sizes and weight( up to 50 lbs, and 75 lbs occasionally).
  • Responsible for shop cleanliness, safety and compliance.
  • Participate in training supplied.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience of trailer repairs.
  • Must have own diesel hand tools required for mechanic use.
  • Physical activities include: walking, lifting, twisting, turning, climbing a ladder, etc.
  • Must be able to comply with all company policies, rules, procedures and Code of Conduct Strong communication skills.
  • Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high volume environment with multiple priorities.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English PREFERRED.
  • Self-starter and quick learner.

Driver Manager

Job Description:

The Driver Manager will lead and manage a specific driver group to ensure driver retention and productivity. The successful candidate serves as an essential link between the organization, driver, and customer.

Functions and Tasks

  • Direct, coordinates and supervises the activities of drivers to ensure productivity within your driver group.
  • Meet and develop driver’s expectations by connecting trips with our customers load volumes.
  • Responsibility for monitoring and tracing loads so that follow-up can occur when customers inquire, regarding late pickups and or deliveries; as well as any other changes that may have taken place.
  • Efficiently maintains a system that will educate and train a professional driver of North American Transport Services regarding safety, hours of service, customer satisfaction (on time service) and compliance with company policy and procedures.
  • Maintain constant communication with drivers through various communication devices with a focus on driver utilization and retention.
  • Keep customer requirements to meet order shipping appointments, and in and out loading times.
  • Identify, investigate and document service failure issue related to driver performance and provide proactive solutions.
  • Continue on-going training to our drivers with new technology such as ELD’s devices, electronic logbooks regulations, company workflow, among others.
  • Consistently evaluate driver performance and recommend proactive actions as required.
  • Coordinates driver recognitions programs within your group.
  • Collaborate with others in the Operation Department to identify and implement creative solutions to improve driver satisfaction and retention.
  • Encourages professional driver appearance and behavior.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by company management.

Skills:

  • Ability to manage others and work under potential stressful situations, knowledge of the transportation industry preferred, ability to communicate well with others, ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, excellent writing and organizational skills, professional appearance and demeanor, ability to take direction from upper managers and is detail oriented, ability to solve problems and work in high pressure situations, and has a strong computer-based keyboard skills, including working knowledge of PC, Excel, Word, excellent time management skills.

Education:

College degree preferred or some college course work completed.

Experience Required:

Basic knowledge of over-the-road transportation industry.

Trailer Mechanic

Job Description:

The Safety coordinator will assist the safety manager continue development of the Company safety and training programs. Facilitate a safety environment that supports and encourages a safety culture, by monitoring everyday safety and compliance practices of the independent contractors and company drivers of North American Transport Services.

  • Responsible for auditing paper logs and checking for citations and violations.
  • Making sure that all owner operators’ paper logs are received within the 13 days after being dispatch outbound.
  • Scheduling drivers that are in violations for audit review and intervention training.
  • Schedule and Perform preventive trainings, ensuring drivers are understanding the techniques shown in the material presented, quiz and provide driver with a certificate of completion.
  • Assisting in Qualcomm, E-Logs and/or Workflow training as needed.
  • Maintaining drivers’ daily logs recap on the Excel spreadsheet on a daily basis.
  • Checking the speed of drivers and making sure they are in compliance.
  • Assist in any other function determined by the Safety Department.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Regulations.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook applications.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English A MUST.

Education:

  • College degree preferred or some college course work completed.
