Job Description:

The Yard Supervisor will serve as the leader in the company Yard's overall management, ensuring an efficient, productive, safe, and organized yard operation. The position coordinates and directs yard employee activities engaged in necessary equipment inspection and maintenance. The broad base of industry knowledge and experience gained while preparing the new manager for any career path within the North American Transport Services organization.

Functions and Tasks:

• Hire and train staff to develop and achieve all work objectives and evaluate performance regularly
• Monitor the work of employees and initiate disciplinary actions as required.
• Monitor inventory of yard supplies and ensure proper handling of all materials and store it appropriately.
• Coordinate the pickup and return of trucks and trailers with our mechanic shop and other vendors' locations.
• Perform routine inspection of trucks and ensure the trucks are cleaned and ready to use by the Company Drivers.
• Coordinate with the mechanic facility to have trucks and trailers ready.
• Manage yard employees work schedule and time off request.
• Supervise and train all employees in the Company yard involved in maintenance and equipment inspection procedures.
• Supervise and follow all applicable OSHA safety regulations in Company terminal.

Skills:

• Ability to manage, coach and motivate others employees
• CDL A license prefered
• Knowledge of the transportation industry preferred
• Ability to communicate well with others and work in a dynamic and fast paced environment
• Excellent organizational skills, professional appearance and demeanor.
• Ability to solve problems and management skills

Education:

College degree preferred, or some college course work completed

Experience Required:

• 1-2 years supervisor experience in yard or mechanic shop.
• Experience in the Transportation or Logistics industry a plus
